November: music month

Each month here at The Queerness, we explore a subject in more depth and invite guest posts. This November we are looking at music. For many queer people, music is an integral part of their life, their coming out, the soundtrack to their first love, how they realised they were queer. Musicians have been a part of how we form our identity, but musicians have also been some of the worst queerbaters, assuming LGBTQ+ identites in order to win fame. In contrast, some huge icons hid their sexuality when they could have been role models to generations. Or you may wish to explore the losses of 2016, where from Bowie to Burns we seem to have lost so many of our heroes.

Join us this November, where we put another dime in the jukebox and let the music play.

Have your say!
